CINCYPAA is the Cincinnati Young People’s of Alcoholics Anonymous. The biggest misconception is that “Young People’s” is for those that are young in age when really it’s for EVERYONE! Young in age, Young in Sobriety, Young at Heart, or simply those that have Room to Grow!
For myself I got sober and wasn’t sure I belonged in AA I just knew I couldn’t take another drink. At about 9 months into this thing I ended up at a Young People’s campout. We white water rafted, went to marathon meetings throughout the night, saw a long timer with over 40 years give a big book to a new comer with less than 30 days, and lastly found a fellowship I could be a part of and have fun again!
I have gotten to attend conferences in 15 different states where I have heard meaningful stories, got to belly laugh, danced the night away, and explored cities I may have never visited had it not been for the Young People of Alcoholics Anonymous.
In a letter to ICYPAA dated June 15, 1969, Bill wrote “… in recent years I have found nothing for greater inspiration than the knowledge that A.A. of tomorrow will be safe, and certainly magnificent, in the keeping of you who are the younger generation of A.A. today.”
