Night Owl Phone Volunteer Form

The Night Owl Program utilizes members with some time in sobriety to assist with the 24/7 hotline phone service — it’s a great way to be of service! When the Central Service Office is closed, the hotline number is forwarded to the phone of the volunteer on duty. The volunteer assists callers with finding meetings, getting 12th Step help, and answering general questions about AA using our website and desk reference as a guide. Excellent communication skills, some minimal technical proficiency with email, smartphones, and websites, and the ability to commit to a limited number of shifts per month are the primary requirements for phone volunteers — and of course your own experience, strength, and hope. All volunteers receive a training orientation and support from the Night Owl Coordinator and office staff.

Available shifts vary from weekday to weekend, day, evening, and overnight. Most volunteers work 1 to 4 shifts per month, based on current needs and the volunteer’s availability. There is no set number of shifts required, but the volunteer’s commitment to answering the phone quickly and reliably during the shifts they do sign up for is expected.

Just complete the form below and we’ll contact you. Direct any questions to the Night Owl Coordinator at nightowl@aacincinnati.org.

Please check all you are willing to do. The more flexibility you have, the easier it may be to get you started. It is better to sign up for fewer shifts that you can commit to, than to sign up for a larger number that proves unmanageable later on.
